Idea 112: Holding-Hands PE Relay Race

HOLDING HANDS RELAY

This was a race that we had for the kindergarten sports day which I thought worked well. Split the kids into groups of about 5. One student from each team goes first, runs a set distance and rounds a cone before running back to their team.

The first runners hold hands with the next person in line and then run the race again in tandem. This happens again and again until all 5 students on a team are holding hands and have to run a final lap. The first team to cross the finish line with all the students holding hands wins.

The first person in each team will be doing the most running, and the last person in the team will only do one lap. To keep things fair, you could run this race several times with the students stood in different orders.
